Video commerce platform
Tolstoy vs Vidjet
Vidjet is a capable widget platform with unusually broad platform coverage, and if you run several storefronts on different systems that breadth is worth something. Where the two diverge is content: Vidjet places the video you bring, and documents no capability for producing it.
What Vidjet is
Shoppable video widgets that embed across many ecommerce platforms, with a strong emphasis on not slowing the page down.
Who Vidjet is a good fit for
Merchants who are not Shopify-only. Vidjet supports WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, BigCommerce, Wix, and Squarespace, and handles multi-domain and multi-currency setups from one account — a real fit for European and multi-storefront operators.
Vidjet publishes paid tiers metered in monthly video views, with unlimited impressions on every tier. Current figures are on their pricing page.

Why brands move from Vidjet to Tolstoy
Documented scope is placement, not production. Embedding, display rules, chapters, and analytics are covered; generating video, sourcing UGC, and editing are not — so a brand whose bottleneck is making content needs a second tool.
View metering with a published ceiling. Their highest listed plan caps monthly views, above which pricing moves to a sales conversation.
A thinner procurement paper trail. We did not find SOC 2 or accessibility documentation, and there is no Built for Shopify badge on their listing — both surface in enterprise security review.

Tolstoy vs Vidjet FAQ
Can I import directly from Instagram or TikTok?
Their Shopify listing mentions one-click import while their own site describes uploading files and auto-importing from Google Drive. We could not confirm a direct social connector. Tolstoy documents auto-import from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Google Drive on the AI Player page.
What counts as a video view against my plan?
Vidjet meters monthly video views while leaving impressions unlimited, so the cost follows engagement. Tolstoy meters impressions, with the rate falling as you scale — see the pricing page.
Can I test two video formats against each other?
We did not find A/B testing in Vidjet’s features, pricing, or help centre. Tolstoy tests creatives in the media gallery and serves the winner automatically.
I am not on Shopify. Does Tolstoy work for me?
Tolstoy is deepest on Shopify, and that is worth being straight about — if you run WooCommerce or Magento storefronts, Vidjet’s platform coverage may suit you better. Talk to us about your setup before switching.
