How important is video background for a shoppable video?

I am working on a shoppable video for my company's new product release, and I'd like to know how important the backdrop is. I expect the viewers to be focused on the products, but I can't really leave the background blank either, right? What should I add in the background to keep things interesting but not take away from the main focus?
